     SELF-DEFENSE SEMINARS
       For Women or Youth - scheduled through PV or MH

What happens at the seminars?   
Women:  Instructors show how to use leverage, momentum and vital striking points against an attacker.  Participants practice effective, easy-to-learn blocks and strikes, as well as various other tactics including hold breaks and counter attacks  --  hands-on!  Learn how to fight back, escape and survive in seemingly indefensible situations.
Youth:  Not to frighten but to emphasize avoidance, awareness, boundaries and whom to trust.  Different types of strangers are defined and how to handle them.  Hands-on instruction about what to do in dangerous situations, including practicing effective defense maneuvers appropriate for their age, size and strength -- in a safe and fun environment.     
NOTE:  Participants must remove shoes, socks and all jewelry, and should wear shirt and long pants that allow for movement.  For safety reasons, pant legs must not touch floor.  Participants need not do anything that feels uncomfortable to them.

Youth age 8-14:  3-hours.  1 day.  Maryland Heights residents $17* (non-residents $22). 
Youth age 4-7:  2-hours.  1 day.  Maryland Heights residents $12* (non-residents $15).

* Maryland Heights Centre (MH) classes ONLY: Residents are individuals who reside within Maryland Heights city limits AND hold a valid Maryland Heights Resident ID card. To obtain an ID card ($5/year), call Maryland Heights Centre at 314.738.2599.  Bridgeton residents, you must register in person with your valid Bridgeton resident ID card in order to receive resident rates for our Maryland Heights location classes. You may enroll online, however, you will be charged non-resident rates.

Class Cancellations Policy at PV & MH locations:  If Pattonville schools are closed or dismissed early due to inclement weather or emergency, karate and self-defense (all locations) for that afternoon and evening is automatically cancelled, but you will NOT be notified.  If ONLY karate or self-defense classes are cancelled, you WILL be notified.  Cancellations will also be noted on Home and Calendar of Events pages, as soon as possible.
